he'd need a carb specific downpipe to hook up that front fat hose. i'm betting he has either an u resolved vac leak, OR the base idle is set too low.Trees aren't kind to me...

you can't use their settings, their "engine" is different than yours (wear, compression, ignition). set the warm idle to 650 with the white idle set screw.Trees aren't kind to me...

650 assume ur talking rpms my car has no tach so do i just go by ear or what? also i have had it to idle but it seemed really high and does the choke wire hook into the alternator i think it does but it does not have a male part on the alternator.got this car in feb and still have not gotten it on the rd.i thought it was just a carb never dealt with nothing like this before and then heard that the 89 is the odd ball year?thanks for ur help and input festyboy

If the single wire plug in is missing off your alt
because somebody put on the wrong alt. You can
wire the choke to the fuel shut off solenoid on the
carb for the time being. It will open a hair quicker
but at least work. If your metal pipes are missing
you can run hose all the way, or bend up new metal
tubing. You do have the little control solenoid
and the reed valves ?Reflex paint by Langeman...Lifted...Tow Rig

You require a tach dwell meter to set your idle.Last edited by bravekozak; 04-21-2012, 08:29 AM.

You can purchase a hand held tachometer. I found mine at a garage sale, and old tach/dwell meter from the days before fuel injection and trasistorized points.Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.
