    weber

u guys are right, about making a weber more economical,by tuning. tuning can mean ,changing jets,as well. if u,work at something long enough, you re bound to get it right. im impressed, how much carb knowlege,u, members have
i allways prefer a weber, over a stock carb. the festy.is a car ,i like,as it is.ive tried various performance mods,on it,over the years, and i still like a reliable stock festy. its afine example,of a well engineered, practical designed for economy. my hat goes off,to people on this site, that feel otherwise.its a free country, and opinions vary. lets keep it this way.

If you choose to go with a Holley Escort instead of a Weber, then you may want to check if there are any errors in this manual. Please delete after checking.

who really cares if u use commas or not i mean really is it writing 101 or is this site here to help out people who drive the same car as you do.and it seems to go off subject alot all i'm trying to do is get my festiva to run correctly only reason i'm even thinking about the weber is because i know i can make an adapter and get it bolted up but can not get a straight answer to if i go with the weber can i get rid off all the vacuum lines and emission stuff? and thinking of the weber because since i got the car i joined this forum for help with the vacuum lines and still have not gotten any one to help get them hookup correctly and i started looking in feb. so kindly makes you wonder does anyone on here know how they go?i have bought two books for this car and neither one really helps.i have the diagram under the hood but it really is no help to me if someone would make a video or take sum good pics of the vacuum lines then i might get it right with the oem carb.thanks a bunch to everyone for their help

The comma part is more of a help to others who may read this in the future, if people use the search. Good grammer is a good thing to have too.

The link that was posted in the beggining of the thread shows just how many of those vacume lines are no longer used. The only reason alot of those are there is because it is a FEEDBACK carb, whereas once you go weber it will be just like the old cars, just a dumpin' fuel.

I honestly believe if you actually knew each of the vacume lines where and what they do 100% there would be no room left in your brain for any new information. It's like a monster.

All that being said I have not preformed the swap myself, but do plan one in the future, so I can't personally list off which lines aren't used after the swap is complete. Just passing the info I've learned so far.

You can run the Weber with Zero Vacuum lines if like.
You can run the Weber with one Vacuum line for your pcv.
Or you can run the Weber with two vacuum lines. One for the pvc & one for the Dizzy vacuum advance.
With a Weber YOU are the engineer. With a FEEDCRAP Carb,Ozzy is the Engineer :eeeeeek:. Thats why no one has stepped up to help you that much. Long story short, you bought a great car with a Carb that was designed for ever tighting emission laws. It was installed on your production year only. It served its purpose,so make your adapter plate. And install a Holly or Weber.Either of these carbs can be run just like a muscle car carb. Three hoses-PVC,Dist advance & a fuel line. If you want to run a oem carb.I'll send you one for the cost of shipping. Peace-

You need the power brake vacuum hose, the PCV vacuum hose and the distributor
                    vacuum advance.

Lets turn this around, you send us a picture of the solenoid and hoses, we
can show you where to hook it to.

I apologize for not getting back with you, I will soon. I've been way busy at work lately because my company televised Thunder Over Louisville yesterday. We had to run fiber lines across the Ohio river bridge, air the 11 hour show, and then remove the fiber lines. Should be finished tomorrow and then I'll have time to get back with you. Everyone make sure my commas are placed correctly. You guys sound like a bunch of old English teachers. lol

the webers ive put on other cars [510/1200 /22r toyota ] the only lines ,were to the vacumn advance on dist., and pvc valve. and of course, fuel line. i blocked off return fuel ilne. i used the 32/36,and 34 /34 with a manual choke. and the webers only had ,above mentioned lines. making an adapter, should be simple. i dont know how you can hook up linkage? PIERCE MANIFOLDS SELLS WEBERS,AND ASSORTED weber PARTS . if u traced your manifold carb entrance on paper, and sent it t0 PIERCE,they might be able to find u a close match, for festy. u , can
keep your air cleaner ,on carb,by getting an adaptor. or use an oval chrome one. u,just have to figure out where the emission lines go,on the engine. if the festy isnt a current driver,u,could try and get a weber to work. i strongly suggest,u,get a new 32/36 dgv, with a manual choke. it might be easier than u think. making
a carb adaptor,is fun, i used to commute,250 miles a day with a festy. i got 40 - 50 mpg. car was stock. never failed me.[ just kept up with maintenance]ii wish ya well, what ever u,decide to do.

Getting your stock carb up to speed is just a matter of scrounging a few pipes and some vac tubing, plus having someone's unmolested car parked next to your's for a few hours. That versus finding a Weber (that may or may not be any good), fabricating a manifold, dialing in jets, and hoping the advance curve is the same. I wish I had a car like yours to nurture back to health!
