Does it make any noises while rolling?

Broken CV joints will make some kind of noise even in a slow roll, as will a disengaged axle.

Thanks for the input I'm more of a body man than a mechanic but I'm sure I'll figure it out. My plan is to fix both cars and sell them I also have a 91 that I am swapping in a Kia T8D engine into I already have the donor car for the swap but may not get to it until this fall it'll be the second swap I've done so this one should go alot smoother

Doesn't seem to make any noise while rolling and the cv axles don't appear to be out I may just need to yank out the tranny and take a look inside I guess if it's not the cv axles

Get it running and try to leave the clutch out. You'll know really fast if it's the differential. Don't give it any gas, and just get the clutch out until the friction point.

Before you do any of that, do a compression test. The vehicle will roll by hand if the cylinders can't build compression.
