  • B6/Festy 5 spd clutch options?

I have a B6, mating to a Festy 5 spd, with the Festy flywheel on the B6.
    My question is:
Will a clutch from a 323 B6, fit on the Festy flywheel?

I like the bigger dia of the B6 clutch (7.50 vs the festy 7.12)

    Thanks, as always guys!

(deciding which clutch to get, so I can order one)

Looking at Exedy, Borg-Warner, or Luk, right now.

As far as I know you can't mix and match F, E, or G series clutches, so no, but I might be wrong

Any of the e/f/g flywheels will bolt to any b series motor, you want to use the clutch for the transmission your using, think about the starter position too. From what I understand, none of the clutches/flywheel combos interchange without serious machining work.

        Good to know.

I do know the teeth count on the 323 B6 flywheel is 20 and the Festy B3 is 18.

I will just get the Festy clutch then.

Thanks, that all was very helpful.

The Festiva clutch will hold just fine for your B6, no need to worry about that.

True, but better off to get a Stage 1 pressure plate for the Festy clutch. With advanced timing and a cat-delete, my B6 is making about 95+ crank HP. That might be at or just over the limit for a stock Festy clutch (with stock pressure plate). But I could see that the stock setup would be fine for a B6 with a cat and no extra advance.

The first sign would be slipping in higher gears. When my B6 was turboed but still had a cat (which was probably partially clogged), the Festy clutch w/Stage 1 p.p. would slip in fifth. After adding the cat-delete, it then slipped in fourth and even third! Showing how much more power was freed up.

You're pretty much stuck with the Festy clutch if you're using the festy trans. If you don't do much side-stepping the clutch or hard launches, a quality stock replacement like Exedy should hold up fine. If you want to give it a little extra insurance, you can upgrade the p.plate to a stage 1 or better. Make sure you deglaze the flywheel or have it resurfaced. To provide the best possible grip. If guys are using the stock clutch behind a BP, it should take a stock B6....if its functioning correctly.

^ Anybody know about Bahnhof clutches?

Back in the day, (late 70's-80's,when I used to race/build) I had heard of Bahnhof. Never heard bad about them. I had a few Zoom clutches and a few Mcleod clutches.
Mcleod was decent, but I burned up a couple Zoom's.

I also heard of some Spec clutches, having Luk parts in them.
Clutches may be like cars, as in, having one name on them, and being built or have parts from other makers.
                  Isn't Bahnhof a German company?

I did some searching on the web. Several people on various Ranger, Neon, Cavalier and other sites asked the same questions. Very little experienced people, but the few that had used them said they held up pretty good. For the price, I may join you in purchasing one............You go first and let me know, LOL.

                      Ha Ha! You so funny!

...but, I might just take the plunge

EDIT: I read those same threads, too!

Hard to find any solid info on Bahnhof ...and why I asked here.
I did find a Racing site that promoted them, but they were selling them, too, so, they might be a little biased
