Us hillbilly's and redneck's, gotta do, what we gotta do! lmao

Takin' a break, the inner axles are putting up a fight now.

I've been sick for a week and a half, and why this hasnt already been done.

Lotsa breaks involved here. Alcohol could be involved. :p

Nice looking festy Drd! Mine is my dad's old car. He quit driving it after a combination of hitting a deer and just getting too weak from chemotherapy to drive a stick so I traded him my '95 Escort auto for his '89 Festy 4 speed manual. Unfortunately about a month later he had a mild heart attack and hit a tree totaling the Escort. The Escort's airbags saved his life though. I don't know if he would have been so lucky in the Festiva!

He doesn't drive now. Luckily he's got a lot of family nearby all drawing straws to find out who gets the privilege of driving him around! They really do fight over it they love spending time with him!

Anyway the Festy looks pretty sad with a missing grille and a bent up hood and LF fender but she's still kicking and running great. My last tankfull was 46MPG!

If the Engine ever fails it's going to see an EV conversion! That should be a fun project but I just can't see doing that to a perfectly healthy running car... especially one that already gets great mileage!

Anyway I'm in St. Charles! Go CARDS!

You're making progress now. How did you get the engine out ? I didnt see a hoist or picker in the H.B. garage. I dislike antifreeze the most of the fuilds. Is it possible to drain all the antifreeze ? No, it just keeps dripping from somewhere during an entire swap. Keep up the good work !!

H.F. engine hoist. There just wasnt room in this town ...er... H.B. Garage, for me and him at the same time, while working on the engine.
He had to wait, and just watch, 'til it was his turn to show how strong he was.

All hand tools. All by myself, with no help...

...except all the wonderful advice, and information, that is given, and found on this site!!!!

Thanks to all of you for answering Q's ... and .... just being there!

                            EDIT:
Cant remember the guys avatar name, but the advice given on a thread about removal of axles, and keeping the axles perfectly straight, and using rotation while pulling/prying gently on the axles, was a GODSEND!!! I will find him and give him many reps!!!! It worked so dang well, I have the mess on the driveway to prove it!

The freakin' axle popped out so fast I didnt expect it. I just lmao 'cause I was so relieved they came out, I didnt care!

                              The Hillybilly Garage ...collapsed!

It's ok, just the tarp, all is well.

Funny part was the tarp fell into the empty engine bay, filled up with like 30-40 gallons of water. :p
It now has a hole in it, where I "Installed" a drain hole.
