I don't see anything obvious around the disty, and certainly no oil on a path between the disty and the yellow dye mark.
I've driven it a few hundred more miles since taking the photos.
I'm going to park it for a week/month or three and go back to the mother ship to fight biggger fires. I'll leave lots of cardboard under it to catch/idenity the location of any leaks.
Could it be that Midas simply tried to sell me a repair I didn't need? They have a pretty good reputation in my view, so I'd be surprised if that were really what's behind this. Hopefully, time will tell more.88L black, dailydriver

Midas is a MUFFLER shop. I know they do "other" stuff, but they are still a Muffler shop. I wouldnt trust them to do anything correctly, except mufflers, and change oil, and even that is in question.
They are not fully trained mechanics, even if they have a certificate hanging on the wall that says so.Last edited by drddan; 07-05-2012, 01:53 PM.Dan

As mentioned, it could be coming from the disty o-ring. Might need to take a good look behind the water neck and on top of the transmission bell housing.
Just my observations from the pictures and your claim of no oil loss, seems like it was a shady scare tactic to me. I also dont think that looks like a probable area for that drip. Especially for a Midas that's probably hurting for business like everyone else... with the thin spread population in Alaska. Keep an eye on the oil level and drive it.-Zack
