Couldn't figure out why I still have vibration above 60 MPH in my Aspire. Left tie rod and tie rod end were replaced just before I bought it; I replaced the right-side ones myself. Put new GR2s on the front, and new LCAs too. Still vibrates. CV axles were also replaced just before I bought it. I did the alignment (string method), and it's spot on.
But today I went to look under the car and noticed that the pass. side CV does not have a balancer on it! Not even a groove for it to go on. I suspect the new CVs are cheapos, maybe even used units with new boots, since the left tie rod stuff the shop put on is also super cheap. PO was a young woman who owned it since new. I suspect she sold it when these issues didn't get fixed and she didn't want to throw more $$ at the car (she bought a new car). Pass. side axle seal is also leaking.
So off to get new parts and (probably) fix the issue.
