Ignition timing/TDC

I've installed the 96-97 aspire motor in the festiva & looking in the hanes manual under Ignition timing it says

90-95 Set it on White Mark 10 BTDC
96-97 Set it on Yellow Mark 10 BTDC

I set Crank TDC on the white mark since that is what Haynes says to do on earlier model years but thats whats got me thinking. Should I keep this engine on the white mark or time it to the Yellow Mark since it is the newer engine?

Sounds like either one is 10 BTDC. Assuming you have the right pulley for that motor.

Its the aspire pulley & has white & Yellow marks on it. The only differences in the newer years is it went to OBDII but since i'm running it OBDI then maybe the white mark on it is correct?
