Missing flange for Muffler

Bought my first festy (and first car for that matter) a few weeks ago.

The car didn't have a muffler when I bought it, and the flange is missing. (Probably sheered off along with the previous muffler)

I was thinking of throwing one of those Thrush glasspack mufflers on there with an exhaust clamp (or have it welded) since there is no flange, but the pipe is all mangled.

How would I go about fixing this as cheap as possible?

if that is the down pipe from the exhaust manifold...either a trip to the junk yard or a WTB post here.

No, this is at the back of the car, there is supposed to be a flange on this pipe where a muffler would just bolt on, but it either sheered off, or was cut off.

I'd just cut it at an un-bent spot and weld on the muffler, but that's cause I have a welder at home.... I also have the tools to make new flanges but I'd be just too lazy for that :lol:

If it were me, I'd just cut it off where you meet straight undamaged pipe and replace from there back. Weld new pipe on or clamp there to finish the exhaust if you can't afford to replace that whole section of pipe from the cat back. Should be able to get a glasspack to fit there if thats what you want to run.

I welded an expander piece to my broken pipe that fit a glasspack that was clamped on. A rear hanger must be fabbed.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will see what I can do once payday rolls around.

Can't do much when you are flat broke. :p

If I have to I probably will just replace everything from the cat back, just thought I would spend less on the exhaust so I can spend it elsewhere on the car, this festy needs allot.

Flex pipe is cheap and generally will last a couple years..

You could get a whole NEW plug-and-play midpipe for about $130 and new bolt-on muffler (about $50) and be back in business in about two hours.
