I personally do not believe the stock feedback carb is worth rebuilding. Have you considered a Weber or Escort carb replacement? I recommend drddan's Weber replacement thread 30959.

To remove the stuck carb, simply get a chisel, position it exactly at the base of the carb flange and give it a gentle tap with a small hammer. Try to avoid cracking the heat sink below the carb. Good luck.

I suspect he knows very well what he's talking about. I got to inspect his B6 twin carb Festy just a few weeks ago. Generally you have to 'crack' the gasket seal on the carb mounts. A brass-head hammer is a handy item and I've been using one for 30 years for that purpose.

Hi Bert. Thanks for the test drive in your Festiva. Don't forget to post a picture of your ride with the new hatch. Yes, I have a full set of machinists hammers from very small to regular size. I believe in always using the proper tool for the job. If I don't have it, I will buy it off of eBay for ten cents on the dollar. The carb gasket is just slightly crushed and baked on with engine heat. That's all.

I trust everyone is actively searching for imbedded links.
