  • Geo Metro rims not fitting 91 Festy

    Hello everyone.

I went to the junkyard and found some 12 geo metro rims with decent tire on them. $40 buck for the 4. Now im having problems fitting them only on the rear; they touch the shock when the car is loaded and makes a horrible noice. Im assuming it might have to do with my shocks being worn out but not sure, or do i need spacers in the the back for Geo 12 inch rims?

What are the full dimensions of the tires? Printed on the sidewall.

No suggestions here except to ask if the rims are OEM or Chinese multi-fit. There is nothing new about 'wheel fit' questions on this site but I don't think anyone has ever bothered to swap Suzuki 12s for Mazda 12s. For $40 at least you didn't lose your shirt, especially if the tires are still good. Offset/backset whatever you want to call it comes into play here. There is not a lot of room between the spring perches and the tires and if yours are rubbing then spacers, or coilovers$$$, or going to 13s on OEM rims may be the only solution.

well not sure if they OEM or Chinese multi-fit to be honest, and the dimentions are 155/R12 76T for the rear ones, the front 2 are different brand Kumhos 155/80 r12 77t, not sure if the t 76 & 77 make clearence difference. Thanks Creepin, waiting to get some xtra cash to get my mustang II up and running again

155s are taller than 145s and also marginally wider. Fit is not a problem with Festy rims though.

Did the II share the same chassis as a Pinto?

Chassis is different, front suspension is different.

Just take the wheels and tires to a cheap shop and have them swap them to your old wheels.

70-73 Pinto was unique. 74-80 Pinto and MIIs shared front suspension and brakes, but MII had a rubber mounted front subframe, the Pinto did not.

So the II was its own unique chassis, except it stole some suspension parts(front) from the pinto. The II had to be the first Stang with a Rack & Pinion correct?
