  • Festiva diagnostic port location

My 92 Festiva check engine light is on and i went to scan it and cannot find the port for the scan tool to plug in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't need a tool. Ground the single white plug by the brake booster, turn the key on and count the flashes.

Read many many threads, my son!

      You have much to learn!

Festivas are a pre OBDI design.
      No socket.
      See georgeb's post.

Thank you. I've never had my light on in over 80000 miles. So i haven't had need to scan

Get the code after doing as georgeb suggested post it up here.
Depending on the code and when the CEL lights-up we can more accurately tell you what needs to be repaired/replaced.

the cel doesnt come on when i start the car just when driving. the car starts surging going down the road like its a weak fuel pump but pump and filter are new and i made an inline pressure port to check pressure with fuel gauge. 30 psi which is i believe is proper

Under the hood next to the booster and coil. White or Clear, it is the same plug.
Try finding a good ground, don't fully start the car, just turn the key to the "On" position. The CEL should blink if it has a stored code, long flashes indicate first digit, and the rapid flashes indicate the second digit, if there are no long flashes, then the first digit is 0.
For example, one long flash, and four rapid ones, indicate a fault code of 14.

I know my coolant sensor was sporadically faulty, only flashing the CEL occasionally when driving, but it stored the code for me to check it.

Tell us the digits, one of us should be able to tell you the fault code's meaning. Most of us have the Haynes Manual which lists the fault codes.
