I was wondering if i was able to put a 5 speed tranny out of a 92 festiva into a 88 festiva with a 4 speed? do i have to change axle shafts, or wound it even be worth it because i have read alot about people tring to rebuild the 5 speed, but not so much at all about the 4 speed. The 5 speed tranny has like 250,000 on it and i am doing a motor swap this weekend. Can i do it??

Direct bolt in same tranny ,5 spd just has 1 more gear

Yeah, I went 4 ---> 5 spd. No problems, just a simple drop and swap....on your death bed, you will retain complete consciousness.....So i got that goin for me...which is nice...

I think mine drops 500 rpm's more when I am in 5th vs 4th------------------------------------------------

No ,that is in my 5 spd.
That is the difference from 4th to 5 th gear about 500 rpm's
I believe 1 thru 4 in a 4 spd
is the same in a 5 spd 1 thru 4 ,then drops another 500 in 5th .
