Just installed the wix air filter this morning. My old one was looking pretty dirty!

I found this, was pretty interesting. http://www.fleetfilter.com/filter-comparisons.html
They cut up many different brands and compared them with Napa Gold/Wix Filters, judging on the results, nothing compares to them, FRAM being the most cheaply made obviously, though STP wasn't much further ahead in quality either.
After I have 5k on this STP Filter, I will start using Wix.
I just got done watching a video by FRAM on youtube, and they pretty much blame supposedly faulty bypass valves built into engines for collapsed cartridge filters. I laughed. I'm considering using Shell Rotella 15w40 in my festiva, since I plan on doing 2000-3000km intervals (not miles), I'm going to see how the B3 runs on the stuff...not that it really matters since it's coming out but the KLDE isn't a spring chicken either and they recommend running a thicker oil on the forums.
25$ for 5 litres of the stuff can't go wrong!1993 Festiva L "Wendy" BP n' stuff

His opinion was basically to use some kind of name brand synthetic or at least some synthetic mixed with conventional of the same brand and the lightest weight you can get away with that isn't 0. He gave logical reasons for this too. Also he said that the closer the numbers are together the better off you will be because you are getting less "extra stuff" and more actual oil. For instance 5w-20 > 10w-40 or 10w-30 or heavier stuff like 15/20w-40.
As for MTX oil, he recommended Mobil 1 Euro Spec in the lowest winter (the "w" number) you can get. He did chemical analysis on the stuff and phoned manufacturers and of course did his own in-engine/trans testing to come to these conclusions.
YMMV
Good synthetic oil will meet 0w50 easy and Amsoil or Red Line will exceed this with some of there oils but they are reluctant to label in that manner. Obviously.
Here is a "scientific" test, it is laughable but seriously it does test grease retention fairly well. If these synthetic boys know their stuff you will not find them going up against quality non-synthetic industrial grease such as Hydrotex.

Re: What Engine/Transmission Oil Do You Use?
I had some amsoil gear lube just sitting around. I put that in my manual trans when my cv went out. I think it is 90w-120. Been just fine for about 6000 miles.
I am doing the other cv next week. Not sure what I will use.HULi ---------------------------------------------------------------------------> Any-where, any-way, any-time.

I read/viewed a very favourable consumer report physical lab testing of Royal Purple oil from Australia about 5 years ago. Had to specifically put an order in for it here but my cars (manual trannys including my 86 F150 with Mazda M5ODR2 5 speed) are now running on Royal Purple ATF synthetic.

You guys were knocking supertech, what's wrong with it? I use the synthetic and have for years
