Holy smoking fusible links, Batman!

When I got to work this morning, I thought that I left my lights on. But then I got caught up with seating tables. Anyway, when I left, my boss pointed out my car was making a high pitched whirring. Yep, lights were on... :gritteeth:
Anyway, one of the delivery drivers gave me a jump, although he didn't jump start it the way I particularly comfortable with. Oh well, she fired up instantly so I'm not complaining much. However, when I left it running a minute, we noticed a stream of smoke from the middle fusible link. I made it to advance auto to find some fusible links, but they didn't have any. So I drove home as the smoking had gone away.
Anybody know how to switch from fusible links to cartridges like I've been hearing about?

Also, my right rear wheel has been really noisy lately. It sounds like a bearing is on its way out, and I haven't had a chance to check for play yet, but oddly enough, the hub isn't hot or anything. The best way I could describe the sound is like a chain dragging across plywood. It pops up every five to ten minutes and is loud enough to startle you. I'm probably going to just change the bearings out if it's simple enough. Anybody have advice or possibly a thread you could throw my way?

I'm slow sometimes lol. I'll go to AutoZone to pick up some cartridges later. I should probably get bearings to be safe

Yes, something like that. You will want two pinks and a green. Green 40amp being the main (middle), and the two 30amp pink ones for the other two.

A fusible link is nothing more than a smaller guage wire than the circuit it is designed to protect. So when you are out in the desert miles from town (think Wylie Coyote) and you burn up a fusible like, you don't need AutoZone. Just find short piece of wire (that disconnected green mystery wire might be a good choice) strip the insulation back a few inches cut off just a couple of bare strands and use them as a fusible link. The idea here is that the fusible link will fry before the harness gets hot enough to melt insulation. Or you could modify your car and buy fuses when you get back to town.

There is NO modification, just remove the fusable links & insert the cartridge fuses.

This reminds me, I am taking an advanced criminology course. I am watching the Batman TV series every Saturday. I would love to see the TV Batman and Robin go up against Bane in the 3rd movie, or The Joker played by Heath Ledger--and win! After all, they fought the Green Hornet and Kato (Bruce Lee) to a draw in one episode. But enough deep thinking for now....
