Has anyone taken their door panels apart to fix windows that are tilting when you roll them up? When I roll my windows up or down they are always tilting to one side and I have to push up on the window to get it to go up.

Thanks Hot Wheels and how is your project going. I did several things to rectify the window tilting but not much with the felt other than to straighten the felt and reglue it in the channel, while i was messing with the felt i cleaned the felt with soap and water, i did spray the felt with Armorall to help the glass slide.
I once ask for help on here how to stop the windows from tilting and i got a responce from a smart young man from Joplin Mo. He said buy new Regulators so i jumped on e-bay and bought two new ones and yup they sure work good but those were the last ones to be had and i had more Festys to fix.
So this is what i did as a repair, now assume you are looking at the window half way rolled up and the door card off, now you can see the two bolts holding the glass in place. i removed the two bolts and the plastic clips, now you can see the size of the holes in the glass, i measured the holes, bought some new nuts and bolts, drilled the plastic clips the same size as the whole in the glass, reinstalled the clips, nuts and bolts and tightened them that worked ok, the bolts have not come lose. Another way to tighten the glass was i grabed some steel tubing from work put that through the plastic clip and glass, also bought a shoulder bolt and nut, slid the bolt through the tubing then through the plastic clip and glass, tightened the nut, this also worked well and the glass has not come loose, The true problem is the plastic slide that raises the window up and down, this plastic piece rides up and down on a steel frame and as you know the plastic will wear out first, the repair i made was to keep the glass from coming loose on the plastic slide it's self, what i did was a good help but not a complete fix. Oh and by the way i did clean off the old grease on the slide mechanism and did regrease it, this alone helped the window roll up and down much easier. good luck and let us know if you come up with a new or better way to repair these parts.Last edited by sc72; 02-16-2013, 06:55 PM.An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.

Window Repair
I should look into this as well since I have an aftermarket power window setup to install (it adapts onto the stock window crank, pretty neat setup lol)
1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor
1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)
If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Not sure if there was any change in this design between 88 and 93 though. Was a 90 that I repaired.
I had three Festiva's when I ordered these several years ago so I ordered 6 of these at the time (used only 3 since then).Last edited by 1990new; 02-16-2013, 08:37 PM.

if you're in a hurry and the grommets are not handy, i've done this with great results: remove old gromets from glass, take a strip of electrical tape wide enough to sit in the groove of the gromet that sits in the hole in the glass and apply 2 or 3 layers to the groove (i find that 2 is usually sufficient). then re-install the grommet. the layers of E-tape will shim up the glass and keep it from moving around as before.Trees aren't kind to me...
