All your tests pan out except spark and your intuition seems to be telling you to look at spark, you are seeing and hearing all that we can't. Do some voltage tests at the coil and see if voltage falls off when it warms up.

just got back. new coil has good secondary resistance. old one doesnt even get a reading. and 89 has orange injectors so thats right. will know soon, but looking at readings of the coil and the symptoms, it looks like the coil is it to me

Hope that is it. If not see if you have battery voltage going to the coil when the bogging or missing starts.

i agree there. hoping for the coil though. i know it has 12v there but havent checked WHILE running. i assume it does since it still runs. but every coil i have in the shop passes primary and secondary resistance tests. they are all pretty similar. but this one has no reading whatsoever. im not sure how it even fires

yup, the coi was part of the issue as well. car runs like new in every way now. went about 100 miles today without one hiccup.

That is good to hear! Sometimes this stuff is more fun than a good crossword puzzle to figure out!
