  • No spark

Hi I am working on an 88 and there is no spark from the coil I have replaced coil, wires and distributor car still no spark. Any suggestions ? Possibly ignition module ? Any help would be great I wanna get it running again it's getting fuel just won't fire. Just let me know what u think thanks

Make sure you have 12V to the + side of the coil (key on). If yes it probably is the pickup in the distrib. Except you replaced the distrib. Dunno.

Same thing happened to mine a couple of weeks ago, same signs . it was a faulty ICM or pickup coil. I replace the whole dist. With module and all and it started right up I purchased the dist from rockauto and it was around $120 or so, I figured I change out the whole dist and play it safe. If you look at my thread on it you can see all the stuff I tried before we pin pointed out.

      Hope that helps you ,

If you suspect the ICM (ignition control module, ie transistorized points) it can be taken out and tested for free at some auto parts stores, the ones who test batteries and alternators for free. When I bought a replacment ICM in Canada a few years ago it cost more than the distributor Dom bought. ^^^^

Yup, I was pricing around just for the ICM aswell and it was a lot more than the distributor with the module in it so I jumped on it. It's not a new one but it's rebuilt , it's as good as new for me my car started right up after I swapped it out
