I am currently repairing a head gasket on my 89 festy. The local junkyard recently added an aspire. I was wondering if it will fit on my festiva and if so would it be an improvement?

You won't gain anything from the Aspire head itself. It's the same as the Festiva. If your Festy head is in good shape, there would be no reason to spend the money on another head of unknown condition. The advantage of the Aspire is the roller cam and rockers. You could just pull those and install them in your Festy head.
Isnt your 89 a carb'd car? If so, you would also need to convert to an electric fuel pump with a regulator, since I don't think the Aspire cam has a lobe to drive the fuel pump. If you already have the mechanical adjustable rockers, I would just keep it original. Won't be any improved flow, but if you have a couple festivas you might want the head just as a backup if its cheap enough. As long as your festys are FI, carbs use a different cam.2008 Kia Rio- new beater

do yourself a favor: lap your valves in the head you get, then clean the heck out of it.
if you want a little more flow without actually doing anything dramatic: remove the valve guide protrusions... Mr. Dickmeyer says its good for several CFM, and i did it to Skippy with noticeable results. if you would like more info about how i did it, i can hunt down the thread posted about it and what tools i used.Last edited by FestYboy; 03-13-2013, 05:07 PM.Trees aren't kind to me...

i used a 3/8" ball burr bit so it would self center and then blended the base.... takes about 5-10 min per guide to get the guide down and smoothed out. all by hand with a die grinder and some patience.
