  • Rear tire almost fell off..!!

So today i finally take my car to work and i am hearing a really loud noise and the faster i went the louder it got it was a screeching grinding noise so i figured great now i have to change the bearings. So i get home and decide to see whats going on back there i jack up the rear and the tire is real wobbly i tack off the tire and dust cap and the nut holding the spindle came off with me just spinning it once. I then notice the nut has been hacked with and took off the drum and the bearings just came apart on me. Do they make replacement nuts for the spindles? Any suggestions

Newer Festys (93s) and Aspires (and perhaps even Rios) use a castle nut arrangement and cotter pin, Much better than the stake nut setup. Drilling a hole for the cotter pin is not a big deal and you can do it with a cordless hand-held drill and a sharp bit. Guaranteed someone here can help you out. You'll have to specify which one you want since passenger side is reverse thread/

They do not seem to be trashed but i will further inspect them, what is the bearing set up that i am going to need for the rear ?

So when i get the nut i look for one that says castle nut arrangement? Im gonna need both, i think previous owner tried to do the bearing and failed miserably .

most stores list it as a rear spindle nut. Also be careful the nuts are side specific. I did mine once and the store sold me the wrong side. Luckily the spindle was ok.

It should cost less than $4 a nut. Some places will try and charge $15+ a nut! So just a heads up.

OH and it does matter which side, one side is reverse threaded (Drivers side? can't remember it's been a while!)

Be careful ordering from advance when I worked there the computer listed them opposite of what they are . Maybe they fixed it. Timken is probably the best in my eyes. Bearings aren't something you want to skimp on. I bought driveworks from advance and they only lasted a year
