  • vibration thwartd my roadtrip.

well I have been talking about that clunking coming from my festiva for a while. well I drove on a pretty rough road today, I was gonna head to the east coast. I started getting this vibration, a bad one, from my festiva. At first I thought it was my strut clunking around or something as it seemed to come from the drivers side. As I slow down It goes away or lessens a lot. Above 60 and it becomes overly apparent. It has a pattern to it thought. Its three or four quick clunks in a row, repeatedly. There is no change in handling around a corer ( I went to one of my favorite twisty spots just to be sure).

I kinda wonder if my LCA is out, but wouldnt that cause cornering to be affected?
I also wonder if its CV joint (Jeremy/Drumnerd) suggested that.

Are the front tires new or used? I hope they haven't been sitting in one spot for a long time or become deflated with the weight of the car on it for a long time. Even if they are reinflated and the leak repaired, the tire would have an unbalancable condition.

drop the LCA... and release it from the knuckle as well, then you can twist it off.

                            Narrowed it down a bit.
So replaced sway bar to LCA bushings. New tires mounted and balanced.

While on road trip I noticed a pretty significant rattling/vibration from the front suspension. Part of it was due to the "tiger stripped" roads ( not the tan ones with the channels in them). But I get a metal on metal clunking along with the vibration. I can feel it through the steering wheel a little, but more through the suspension and body. More so even, if I turn the steering wheel. It kinda feels like the front driver wheel is ready to collapse. But its soundly sturdy. I'm doing coilovers very soon. I think my struts are part of the problem.
