Would the self adjusters be something that I should start saving from Festivas at the local PAP?

I have pulled the Emergency brake cable unit but didn't think about the adjusters.

Just checked the local LKQ and they don't appear to have the 1993 Festiva in their inventory now. We all need to send emails to LKQ and ask them to put the Festivas in the "classic/antique" section instead of scrapping them on their normal rotation schedule. In the long run they would make a lot more money.
They don't weight much and they don't take up a lot of room.

I would remove everything from the backing plate and clean it up. I've found a wire brush, wire brush on drill, small grinding wheel on drill, hammer and cold chisel, and broken hacksaw blade are all good for removing rust. Then I'd wash with paint thinner and apply two coats of rust paint before replacing the springs and such.

That sure looks challenging!! Around here we wipe the dust off and address the points that wear. Unless you are going all out functionally you can knock the scale off and if it is still thick enough run it. Any places that wear should be cleaned further then greased with backing plate grease. Your rear shoe will run the adjuster anytime it moves a clicks worth from the post. These adjusters like to find any excuse not to work, look them over good. Lots of good advise above, use your best common sense.
