i cut 2 coils off the springs up front and had bad camber someone recommend aspire LCAs and they fixed the issue. if i go back to festiva LCAs i will have the camber issue i had before. and what's the difference in aspire cv axle and festiva cv axle. someone had stated that they were a little longer than festiva axles. but everywhere i find and look to buy they are the same length.
if i don't figure this out without dumping a ton more money in it i won't be going to FM7. so i would like to spend as little as possible. if anyone has an old aspire passenger cv axle i can buy cheap or some old festiva LCAs.

Usually, Aspire LCAs are used when doing the Capri brake swap. I haven't done it (was going to), but what I gather, if you use Festy LCAs when doing the swap, the ball joints end up at an extreme angle (I think there are axle binding problems too). Aspire LCAs lessen the angle. Even with this swap, Festy axles are used.

Also available at most McParts stores. Fix your camber, run your Festy LCA's.

Or instead of spending $40-50 on a couple dinky bolts just slot the top hole in the strut clevis...that's what a lot of alignment shops do.

When I completed the Aspire swap 2 years ago the car retained Festy driveaxles, with Aspire sway bar, Aspire LCAs, Aspire tie rods and FMS Aspire sport springs. The wheels wound up not at all being perpendicular to the ground, and the tie rods had to be adjusted out 1/4 - 3/8" past original to achieve proper toe. Within 100 feet of the initial test drive one of the driveaxles popped loose and the ATF poured out. I promptly switched back to Festy LCAs which straightened the wheels up and the tie rods could be spun back in and that has now been 10,000 miles ago. I did notice at the time that Aspire driveaxles were slightly longer (1/4"?) than Festys but didn't want to go that route only because castor/camber was so obviously off and I couldn't see tangling with that in a satisfactory manner, nor contemplating the install of an Aspire steering rack (also longer?).
If in your case everything appears to be OK except for driveaxle length maybe you want to try that swap first.

And a RH Aspire axle..... If you run Spire LCA's in a Festy you must run Spire Axles. If you put Festy LCA's in a Spire you would need Festy Axles(not that this would be agood idea). But a "Wide Track" Festy isnt a "Bad" thing. You must run Spire axles though. I accidentally installed a Festy axle in my Spire (and my axle came out twice) before I caught it. All it would take is a big pot hole and that would start the ATF fluid lake/instant neutral syndrome.drool

Yes they are exactly .250 longer than Festy axle's. Which is how much longer the Spire LCA is compared to its Festy cousin.

Just read you whole thread and saw that you are losing the passenger side cv. This is unusual, you may have shifted the transmission to the drivers side in the conversion. If all other issues like things touching that shouldn't look okay then do both cv's with no other worries.

aspire LCAs are .75" longer per side than the Festy units, just to clear things up

a .25" difference would not cause the axle to pop out as it wouldn't impart much force on the tripot boot, the extra .5" though puts tention on the boot and can cause the axle to pop out (along with a weak circlip on the end of the axle).

i suspect that the Kia Rio knuckles share a centerline measurement with the festy and aspire knuckles (from the strut mount to the ball joint mount). we know for certian that the Capri knuckles have a shallower centerline than the Festy/Aspire knuckle and that forces you to use Aspire LCAs to compensate for that loss of clearance.

you have 2 choices here: use Festy LCAs or use Aspire axles (but not both).
