    The gear in the pump that engages the converter can crack. Looking straight in from the front you should see it. You will probably see some circular rub marks that you need not worry about.

      How does that damage occur? Is it when its started up not having it aligned right?

        Its from the flex plate pushing it in, to much inward force without being through the hole can crack it. Unbolt it and put it in again, it needs to go in another 1/2 inch or so. You can feel it go in the bushing, you can feel the splines engage and last of all the pump drive lugs. It will make a solid thud when it hits the end.

          Where is this adjustment located? What does this adjustment do? If not adjusted right will this cause a no gear situation?

            If you have it it is inside the nipple for the vacuum hose, yes they are tiny. It will cause the engine to not rev out right . It will not cause the oil pump to not pump.
