If it was still blowing white smoke and had a sweet smell, it was still leaking antifreeze into the cylinders, even with the 2nd head and a new gasket. It could be several issues. The head and block surfaces must be perfectly clean. The block surface can be slightly warped as well, but it's usually not an issue. The replacement head could have been warped. It's also possible the head (or both heads) could be cracked. On aluminum heads, I ALWAYS clean all the carbon from the combustion chambers and check them for cracks. I also ALWAYS have them milled (even just skimmed) to ensure they are 1: perfectly flat and 2: provide the best sealing surface for the gasket possible. You can check the block cylinder walls for cracks when the head is off as well. Also, make sure to change the oil and filter when the head is removed. Any water that gets in the oil can ruin the bearings in short order.

Well I had both the new head and block 100% clean and shinny not a single inperfection, and the smoke is oil and gas cuz its running rich but cold I have just burnt the rings on the cylenders. But I drove it to the stor and back today and it blows out antifreeze someware under the head and dumping it right under the engine and I couldn't find where it was comming from but there still is not a single leak around the head

Make sure its a 1.8 and not a 1.9......and that the engine does run, if you can't fix a b3 you'll have a hell of a time with dohc. 350 for the motor 200 for transmission TOPS, I persnally won't pay more than 150/motor 100ish for a tranny since I know what I know now,(for junk yard parts) but I'm not in a hurry for them either.

It is a 1.8 I allready checked that and I'm paying $250 for both with the shifting linkage but with my engine the valves in the head wernt sitting all the way in causing it to loose pressure and I want a bigger engine any ways to turn my "huge" tires 205/75r/14s

The hoses from the pipe and the heater hoses are a little hard to see and tell if they are seeping.

If you are smelling coolant in the exhaust you have a gasket failure. I suppose you can get one hot enough to crack the head but if you did I am pretty sure you would have other problems too from that much heat.

When you shut the car off hot with pressure in the hoses, then pulled the plugs when the engine had cooled down, did you see coolant on top of the pistons ?

If you are not sure what coolant smells like in the exhaust you could pour a cap full in the intake then start the car and go smell the steam. It will clear fairly quickly but you will get the idea. Don't put in too much and hydraulic the motor, that is the only risk for an education!

Na I know what I smells like I've been around working on cars for 6 years just I've never had one this big of a pain and not be able to figurer it out. But its not leaking any antifreeze not it was the spill over spraying the boiling watter on the ground ( didn't use antifreeze cuz I was wanting to see where it leaked) and threre is no sign of moisture in the cylenders when I checked yesterday. But I'm perfictly fine with getting a bigger motor I've actually been hoping my motor would fail so I had a reason to! But how much is a wiring harnes for the escort gt DOHC Motor?
