Replace oil pump or not

Pull plugs, kill fuel and ignition, grind on the starter for 20 seconds. Or at least until oil light comes off, or gauge moves. Bump key a few times to see how long pressure bleed off takes place after pumping stops.Originally posted by logan View PostHow do I go about priming the old pump when I put it back in?
I always nod to myself with satisfaction after I stop cranking engine, taking a full 2 seconds before light turns on. Of course 15w40 is cheating on tight bearings and room temperature.

dont have to do that, just jump the battery wire at the starter to the starter signal wire and boom, you have a cranking, but non-running engine, all while everything is hooked up correctly!Trees aren't kind to me...
