  • ECA - ROM

    Has anyone opened an ECA to see if there is a removeable ROM chip as was common on older computers? - otherwise, why would they seem to all have the same part number, as I was told? I would like to know what is interchangeable if the ECA goes bad.
    When I'm good I'm very, very good and when I'm bad I'm HORRID.

    Some had EPROM's for reprogramming. Don't know if the Festiva had one.

      If I remember correctly the B3 ECU that someone handed me at Ohiostiva last year(?) did NOT have a ROM in it. If I run across it I'll double check.

      It was hit or miss with the ROM's

      B3=no?
      B6D=yes
      B6T=yes
      BP=no
      BPT=no

      not sure about the SOHC's, I wanna say the SOHC B6's had ROM's. Depends on the year too. Some of the early (86,87?) euro spec B6T ecu's were not equipped with a ROM whereas the later ones were.
