The teeth go on the pulleys.

When I bought my Festiva it had a belt with square notches on the back side instead of where it rides on the pulley. I also had one on my AMC Eagle. They weren't as deep as the ones that face the pulley. You can tell by the shape of the belt, the V goes towards the pulleys. Looked similar to this belt. http://www.kgpowersystems.com/produc...e-v-belts.html

As long as it's the right size, it doesn't matter.

The notches or teeth or cogs which ever you wish to call them serve two purposes. 1. to make the belt more flexible 2. to assist in cooling.
