  • How to check magnetvalves

I have -89 carbed 121, wich has few wierd problems, first problem, it just dies when rpm's drop to idle, this it does only warm-up phase after choke has gone off.
And second problem is that it keeps revs up, when it should drop to idle, rpm's stays 1500-2000 for very long time before they drop to idle. I mean long time +30sec.

I have adjusted float level, it was high, but didn't affect, also mixture was adjusted at the same time. Checked and adjusted timing, vacuum hoses has been changed. Fuel pump has been changed, it was leaking, but didn't affect.

So, how can I check these valves?

I took those caps off and the midle one made little "pss" noise, so there were air moving out or in? But those two others didn't make any noise?
If I remember correct, the middle one is controlling throtle actuators vacuum, and if that valve is broken or sticking, it could cause my problems..
Hi! Do you wanna ride with me? I have red cabrio, it has the biggest engine what was available when the car was new. It also has about every possible accessories what was available then.

Try opening and releasing the throttle to see if the engine slows down.

Also, I had that problem after checking the vacuum hoses by pushing, pulling, and misting.
I think it was carb cleaner, WD-40, or water drawn in from checking for leaks by misting
After it burned off the idle was normal again. The plugs were covered in white powder indicating impurities.

Hello Finland. I highly recommend replacing the feedback carb with an Escort or Weber carb + adapter. It is not worth the time to troubleshoot or money to fix.

        WmWatt:

throttle is moving fine, but okay, I think I might check it tomorrow when I'll drive the car again. If it would stick when it's hot. But I have noticed that revs aren't "sticking" on a rainy day, then they drop normally to idle. Shutting off has happened on a rainy days..
Also, gaspedal feels normal when revs stay high, so atleast pedal/wire isn't causing it.

I think I'll look also the plugs, they are fairly new, but still..

I have had this problem (or these?) for several hundreds or even over 1000 kilometres already, and I haven't sprayed anything under hood, so it shouldn't be anything "burning off"

Hmm... I would say to that: not gonna happen. :nono: Our escort is totally different and has Ford-engine
as you have there Mazda-engine hmmmmmm
Weber is pricey in here, also in second hand, and hard to find. Those escort carbs should be founded there us-grounds, but then shipping cost would be awfull...

So I would say that it's more moneywise to fix this original carb than some conversion. And I'm not in a hurry, I have JOM-coilovers..

        PS.
where I could find carb rebuild set?
