I tossed my charcoal canister + all the junk behind the left rear panel. I just vented my gas cap. The goal is to get as high a vacuum reading as possible. Don't waste vacuum on ineffective pollution control devices that you have to drive around burning gas for.

Dieseling happens on the Weber because it doesn't have a idle solenoid... You can add one but I never got mine to work right. If you are a little rich on your air/fuel idle screw that could help cause the Dieseling. As far as after the fact that it idles so low, I don't know but if you had a bunch of vacuum lines disconnected and reconnected them did you reconnect them correctly?

I prefer to tune my carbs for power. Turn the idle screws out rich until it starts to run rough, and then back in a little. I want to hear those tires chirp every time I launch.

        Did anyone remove their ECAs?

An interesting study would be to measure the manifold vacuum with the stock feedback carb and again after the conversion with the new carb.

My ECA is unplugged. The only thing running is the carbon canister.. all the other vacuum ports are plugged and taken out (disty teed into the rear port on the carb). As a last resort, I messed with the A/F screw.. no change aside from what the screw normally does.

I plugged dem holes so there's no air coming in.

Guess I'll be back at it tomorrow. It was running so nice, too.

Are you running regular ethanol gas?
Try super on the next fillup and see if there is any difference with the run on.
Usually super has no ethanol, regular has 10%, and ultra has 5% since it's a 50:50 blend with super. And that's the way the octane cookie crumbles.

Around here 98% of gas is 10% ethanol. Even the 93 octane stuff has 8-10% (according to the pump handle itself, with a little asterisk). I /can/ get non-ethanol gas at a single station locally, but it's 93 octane only, and they don't sell much of it (last time I swear it was bad gas).

Will try super for the fun of it, though.

Open your tank and look inside with a flashlight (do not use a match). Check for separation. Scoop a sample from the bottom and inspect it. Check your prefilter on the sender that you removed.

EGR valve - I dunno what I did, but I looped it with the wrong thing. Next objective: EGR plate.

Thank you everyone for your help.. I feel dumb sometimes. I wasted 4 hours trying to figure out what was wrong, and it was the simplest stupid thing.

                  OH OH. Fun thing.

I cut off the cat. Easy +10HP.

                  EDIT #2:

Mom just got back from driving it. She says "It flat flies, smooth in every gear!". Evidently, she rev'd up to about 5k with our neighbor in the passenger seat.

The neighbor got a bit nervous but loved it.

I have been thinking about making an EGR blockoff plate, that should be an easy project

That would be fantastic. If you made them, it'd already be on the car. :p

I just threaded the two holes with a pipe tap and installed a couple of cheap pipe plugs.

EGR blockoff plate. I can drill & tap the boss for 1/8th NPT on request, if you want an extra vacuum source for whatever.
