It is true DOT 3 brake fluid is hydrospopic, DOT 4 less so, DOT 5(silicon oil) is not hydroscopic.

The brake fluild is NOT "gathering in the exhaust because water vapor is a by product of combustion"!
It is true that water vaper is a by product of combustion.

The brake fluid is being partially burned in the the engine and is no longer brake fluid.
It is creating white smoke because of the partial combustion.
The engine does not have enough oxygen, to completely burn the brake fluid under the conditions the engine is operating at.

If in fact if "its gathering in the exhaust because water vaper is a by product of.combustion", couldn't the OP just open the port on the vacuum booster on a humid day and the brake fluid would just magically come out to join its friend water vapor?
Your getting funny and technical. Water vaper goes to break fluid brake fluid doesnt go to water. The different DOT fluids are made for different rubber types and pressure/heats. GM used different rubber mixtures then most imports etc. If you leave patrolium based rubbers in a bath of brake fluid they will deteriorate over time and if you put brake part rubbers in a bath of petrolium oil they will swell larger. Brake fluid has a higher flash point then gas and it will coat your exhaust components. It will make higher condensation in your exhaust output as well. Im sorry i wasnt clear enough before ;-)

You do realize you are talking to a chemical engineer who specializes in plastics, right? My money says he can tell you the chemical composition of each product you just named, how it is formulated, produced, and used in more applications than you ever dreamed possible, by heart, without reference source other than his brain, with a beer in one hand, and a burger in the other.

No to mention, he is the Right Reverend of Zulu ministries, John bless you, my child!
