Hi Guys, Now that I have my fast idle fixed, I am going to try and get me temperature gauge working. Does not work at all, I am guessing a sending unit, does that sound like a good guess? Are the sending units pretty easy to change? Where is the sending unit located, when I had the air cleaner off messing around with the carb, I kind of looked around but did not see it. Thanks for any help! Bill

Strongly recommend you get a Haynes manual, it'll save you asking lots of questions. And it has pictures of where stuff is.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

I'm not sure if the carby and FI are the same but on the FI the sending unit is on the front of the head just to the right of the exhaust manifold. ( if you are standing in front of the car looking at the engine.) It is a single wire sensor. I dont know why the pic turned out so small. My work computer wont let me upload it to imgur so I can link a bigger pic.Attached FilesLast edited by gergorian; 09-23-2013, 09:15 PM.

They are close together. The one you want is more or less under the #4 spark plug (the one nearest the disty).90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

Test it before you try removing it. It has a varaible resistance depending on temperature. Measure the resustance cold and hot. It grounds to the block.Last edited by bravekozak; 09-28-2013, 03:17 PM.

Its just a little push on connector....how did you manage to break it? Put it back together, you didn't hurt anything unless you tried removing it from the block and snapped it in half....in which case. Maybe you shouldn't be working on your car. LOL
Seriously tho, all joking aside, just put the wire back in the connector and test it.

You may have missed me talking about not being a mechanic two weeks ago when I was getting help fixing a fast idle that wouldn't slow down. I am just a fifty four year old truck driver trying to keep six cars running because I have three kids in three different colleges. It can be challenging!
Do you think this is the correct part for this project? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIGINAL-ENG...649bd5&vxp=mtr
Thanks, Bill
