  • passenger cv shaft too short

Well finished my lift 99% today ended up being 7" without tires but i. Found out that the passenger side cv shaft is about 1" short I used a aspire cv for the drivers side and it works so would a passenger aspire cv shaft be longer? If not what other cars would work?

Kia Rios are longer, if I've read correctly.

Does it matter on the year? Manual? Or other stuff for the rio cvs?

Went to advanced auto parts and looked up the kia rio aspire and festiva cv shafts, the aspire and rio have the same length at 35" but the yoke is like 1" longer then the festiva which is questionable if its long enough

So would it be safe/work if I cut the asire cv in half extend it 1 inch then get a steal pipe use it as a sleave and then weld it? Would the balance be off cuz it would be the center of rotation so I don't think it would be?

To what I've seen, nothing of your setup is what I'd consider 'safe'. But I really wouldn't go messing with something that holds a lot of weight and allows your car to turn.

Wouldnt It would strengthen it if I use 1/4" steel pipe 35" long that is a snug fit to the cv shaft with welds on both ends? Cuz it would only have a 1" open spot in the middle that would be filled with solid stock but would add 1/2" of the overall diamiter of the cv cuz it would still be stright but thicker

Discuss improvements to your Festiva or Aspire in the handling, braking, wheels and tires areas.

check this out lot of great info.
Not sure l if it has that you need or not.

Why not make aluminum spacers to drop the crossmember say 4", and also an adaptor for the pass. side engine mount? That way you could drop the motor/tranny and keep the CV shafts straighter.

Thanks william I had help from movin when I first started my lift but that post helps a lot the aspire abs cv is probably my best bet and if I lower the crossmember to keep my cvs closer to normal then ide loose my 13" of ground clarance which would put me at 9" if I Droped the cross member And have my oil pan exposed which wouldn't be good on rocks

no don't use a sleeve.the axle would need to be cut at beveled on both ends to where u have a v shape to fill with weld and u need to set all this up in a jig or lathe to get it true to weld. the piece to lengthen it could be cut out of another axle.but in my opinion keep looking for an axle to replace it bc there has to be one long enough somewhere.

Aspire cv is a hair to short cuz when I go in to gear it grabs but also pops out of the yoke so would spacers on the inside of the spendle work or is the aspire cv with ABS a little longer?

Found a pdf file that lists 1000s of different makes and moddels cvs including length and spine count and the only car that is the right length is a chevy nova from the 80s but is 23 spine tranny side and 24 on the spendle and is 38" long........ the next closest one is the kia rio and aspire but the cv works if I use a 1/4" spacer on the inside of the spendle but my next thang I could posssibly do is lower the passenger motor mount. 1/4" on tos of dropping the suspenshion but if I do I won't be able to drive over top of a 5gal bucket sitting up right.....
