Does this go back on the with the thermostat?

Its metal and I don't know if it is supposed to go back on with the thermostat or not? Here is a pic of it. Also a pic of the stat that was in my 93 festiva. Is it the original stat? Thanks, Jim

It's a two stage thermostat, but it doesn't look stock. I don't believe the spring steel gasket is stock either. I will wait for other members to comment.

It needs a gasket and you should have put a new one in when changing the thermostat. In your other thread....you mentioned changing the t-stat....did you put a new one in or a used one? What was wrong with the one you have in your pic?

Put a new gasket on it. Yes it should have that gasket. And yes, that does look like the proper t-stat that your Festie should use.
