Most likely your adjusters are just corroded. The backing plates get really rusty but usually its not that big of a deal. Get all your parts,drum, seal,bearings,shoes & spring kit from any parts store. Bring your car out here and Il walk you thru it. If you want bring your new axles with 3 qts of ATF and we'll knock those out as well. PM me with your phone and we can iron out the details. Oh and my wife likes Guinness Stout,so bring a six pack for labor cost's. (That keep the both of us happy)Some people like to read fiction,I prefer to read repair manuals. Weird I know-

Here is what mine looked like all rusty and froze up. Had to spray em and knock em around with a rubber hammer until they finally loosened up.
