First check if there is any power through the headlamp relay (red/black wire).
If so, then check if there is any power through the the haedlamp switch (red/blue wire).

Did you check the fusible links under the hood?

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Fuses in the cabin? I can't remember if one of the fusible links in the engine bay provides power for the lights alone, but it is easy to check those.
Headlamp relay is at front on driver side, running light is at front on passenger side under the intake.
You could have power but have lost the ground lines, that happened to one of my two headlights. So check continuity of ground leads out of the relays.
Combination switch could have failed, mine did for the running lights. After removing the cover on the steering column, that switch connector cable is found on the top of the combination switch on the passenger side with a small clip with 3 wires, one black, two red with different colour stripes.

Losing everything at once sounds like a switch issue to me. If you lose parking lights and dash lights but still have headlights then the "tail" fuse under the dash is usually the problem, sometimes when a bulb blows out it shorts out enough to blow that fuse. Losing only headlights but still having parking and dash lights can be either the switch or the "Head" fuse under the hood. But to lose both at once I'd have my money on a switch or wiring issue.
                No festiva for me ATM...

i'm wondering if the car has an issue with burning through switches now because i did notice it has the "orange" switches in it which i should have came with white i know that. i'll get home here and get out the multimeter and see what i find and let ya guys know right away!
