  • Odd a/c system from Power Steering Festiva.

A while back I bought a A/C system here off a guy who pulled it out of a 91' Festiva that had both power steering and a/c.

Well I have run into a problem, I can't find ANY compatible accumulator/driers under any year for the Festiva on rockauto. I know for a fact it is factory because it is a nippondenso compressor. UNLESS these rare Festivas that had power steering, had a dealer installed a/c system that uses a Nippondenso compressor, but for some reason I don't believe that.

The closest drier I could find that looks like the pressure lines might fit into is for Dealer installed A/C, but has a weird fin sticking off the side of the canister, the one I pulled off the system was just a round canister, no fin.

This is the closest thing I could find.

But the fin would have to be cut off, because it will not mount to the condensor with it, that and I am not even sure the fittings are the right thread and size, but still is the only one with fittings set up in this configuration. Everything else has the fittings at a 90 degree angle, or fittings that attach straight into the top.

Any thoughts? Anyone have experiance with this oddball A/C system that may just end up being a pile of scrap if it can't be used?

according to the parts books, the receiver/dryer is the same regardless if PS or no PS. (it's mostly just the tubing that is different.) there are 3 different ones though depending on model year. ALL years w/ dealer installed A/C - E7GZ19959A. 90-93 w/ factory A/C - FOBZ19959A. 88-89 w/ factory A/C - E8BZ19959A. it might be possible that the 88/89 dryer was put on at some point? also note in the diagram, the 90 degree fitting config is the correct factory setup.GREEN SALES still has the E7 & E8 parts available. they might be willing to pull them and describe them to you. also, it's been a few years, but i used to go to NAPA to buy fittings and A/C hose to make up custom lines.

There are seventeen of them left.

I believe that one has the ports at a 90° angle for the snap on plastic cap.
There is a another one that is at 180° angle.
