Deep breaths man. That seriously sucks, but it's nothing that can't be fixed with the next size up thread tap + bolts. Your almost there!

      Hmmmmmm! ..... I just happen .... to have .... a .... 10 x 1.25 mm .... Heli-Coil kit! .... You can "borrow" the kit, use 3 of the Heli-Coils, use the tap, and install tool ....

.... all for the price of shipping it to you, and back to me!

Just last week, I had a stripped out thread in the 5 spd, I am putting in Black Car. I have 11 heli-coil inserts left! I don't think I will ever use them all. lol

I would think it would be around 6-7 bucks to do that.

      PM me ....

Speaking of Heli-Coil, I need to fix the middle lower bolt hole on my exhaust. Does anyone know if it's safe to Helitap the head for an 8mm size? I don't want to pierce the water jacket

Oh ok. That sounds like a junkyard trip to me. I was hoping someone had a list but I'll just hopefully grab some at the yard.

I gave the main thread size on post #17, 2 posts above yours ...M10x1.25 thread. Length I will have to measure to be sure, but I think 25 mm long

What's weird is that the same bolt that I have won't fit in all the holes. I'll try picking up some new ones and see if it works

Did you get the tranny to match up with the engine? What was the problem?

Know it sounds dumb but is the clutch disk facing the rite direction?

Gotta have the clutch alignment tool. I fought my last one putting it back together until I used the alignment tool. Trick is to wiggle it around making sure it moves freely within the clutch splines while tightening the pressure plate. This way when the input shaft goes in everything is aligned.

I'm with Flyin on this one, if its going all the way to within 1/4" the clutch splines themselves are already engaged on the input shaft, but if the clutch plate is off center even a little bit then it won't want to seat into the pilot bearing. If its been tightened down enough to strip out threads then its not the backing plate binding on the axle that is causing the problem, though that is usually a point of trouble when reinstalling an engine with the axle in. I always notch mine about 1/4", just to make things smoother for installation.

I don't know what the problem was. When I put it together on the hoist it still stopped at the same spot. I ended up squeezing it together with a pair of pliers I think it was catching on that little mounting tab on the bottom two bolts.
