  • complete engine gasket set question.

i need to get a complete engine gasket set..... is there a recommended set?

locally, i can get a fel pro set, at the cost of roughly 140 bucks

    rock auto shows a few:
    ITM
    DNJ
    Auto 7
    Sealed power

is there a reason to go with one over another?

reason being, i have to do the rear main seal on the festiva, i figure the oil pan has a slight weep, and i might as well just go ahead and pop the head, do a quick valve check(valve job if necessary) timing belt, water pump, oil pump, and check the crank main and rod bearings while i have it apart. i dont like doing things twice, but don't see a reason to do a full rebuild. (110,000 miles)

    thanks for the help.

    cheers

As for gaskets, Sealed Power and Fel Pro are name brands and have been around for years, before you start the tear down do a compression check just to be sure or do a leak down test. good luck
An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.

I was a name brand guy but doing a cheapie rebuild for my daughter and ordered DNJ from Rockauto. I was impressed with the DNJ gasket set.

I have heard some bad stuff about DNJ on my Subaru's though.
Tensioner assemblies blowing up, timing belts breaking...not a huge
deal on these cars, but you may as well get your moneys worth. I
say go with the Felpro out of those options you chose.
