  • how to scan bp swap

I have gomezs festiva it just quit running no spark or power to injectors I have done all that I could but no luck getting it to run so it is now at garage but they are not able to find obd port to scan it it has the 1.8 swap in it any help on how to hook up scanner would be great thanks

Won't be OBD. The test connectors are in the engine bay. (I think it is an EEC-IV?)

No power to the injectors... if all the fuses are good I would look at the ground on the front of the engine by the dizzy, and then check the dizzy itself.

Is the fuel pump turning on when the key is put to run?

Sorry - Just read the history... see there are few things that were checked. Obviously something failed to blow the fuse initially and now you are chasing the issue.

Tell them to hook up the scanner the way they would for a Ford Festiva. The check plugs are in the engine bay by the driver side strut towards the window.

I would think there is an order in which the process would go in as far as wiring would go example from key switch to computer then ign mod so on on

Check all the grounds . Check the pins at the dizzy for loose or broken . On that car the only added wire that would effect running that's needed for the swap was the forth wire on the dizzy . Peel some off the loom back about three inches and you will see the connection . Then again at the ECM plug . Ohm that wire make sure it's good .
is the main relay clicking when key is cycled ?
New build on the way .

The wire from dizzy to ECM should not have power . Unplug dizzy and unplug ECM . Make sure you get an ohm reading from one plug to the other . It's a single wire all the way through connects to nothing else . Should be solid 00 reading from end to end . Check that . It's the only non stock wire added .
