Post number 10 here has a picture of the tool nonamekid is talking about:
I can't get the CV Axle out of the driver's side on my 95 mazda 626. I changed it out to a "Fenco" aftermarket one a few weeks ago, but forgot to do the seal... of course its leaking gear oil now. What I expected to be an easy job has turned into a nightmare. I cannot get this axle out of the...
I've also successfully done it with a screwdriver, but I'd like to make a few of those tools sometime. Of course it only works if you can get one side out to start with!~Nate

Jerk and turn, jerk and turn - has worked every time for me. Got to get that circlip inside aligned.
I like the screwdriver trick. First time I've read about it here and there have been lots of discussions about this problem.
Be careful the parts inside the transmission don't drop down inside out of place when both axles are out. When both are gone there's
nothing to hold them in place.
Good luck.Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.
