  • Optimal spark plug gaps?

I have an 89 carby 4 speed I know it calls for .044 gapping on the plugs but I also know you can open that up a bit for better power and fuel economy. Whats the best gapping and might as well if you know what are the best gaps for the EFI's too. Thanks guys

You'll also eat plugs faster gapping them wider, and it'll be theoretically harder on the coil. Plugs aren't that expensive, but I've had to do new ones every 10k before because of excessive wear. That was also a wasted spark engine, so the Festiva won't be that bad.

I've gone as far as .065 in other cars. Never tried it in a Festiva though. If I were doing .065 in a Festiva I'd try to find a way to run dual coils. Don't know if you can do that or if it's even of any benefit, but I'd try to do it anyway.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

The closest my wire spark plug guage comes is .040 so I use that.

I have used .048. Not sure it made any difference. It ran good, but it did at .044 too

High altitude I tighten up the gap some. Prevents missfire.

very limited benefits if any playing with gap on a NA engine. A power adder engine needs tighter gaps to prevent the spark being blown out under boost/spray

Can't fix what isn't broke. Some of these salesman fishing videos..it looks so good I have to try the new bling bling lure. Spark plugs with split fire, multi electrodes, fire rings, sharp little edges, tiny points, fancy metals work the same way! NGK is still working for me. .040 or if turbo car or supercharged I like .028 . If it works good use it, if you get misfires change plugs or gap. It all makes good camp fire talk lol

That's because it's not a page. You right-click it and copy the link location. Then paste into a torrent client. Or if you're setup to click to DL torrents from magnets it would work, but it's not a page by itself.
