  • shifter bracket

So my bracket that holds the shifter up, had it's tabs broken so my shifter keeps falling down. I've tried driving screws through it and they'll hold for about a week but then they fall down. My question, is there a way (short of welding it into place) to hold up the shifter?

Better to do it with a machine screw and a nylock nut, even some blue Loc-tite. Won't fall thru then.

Pull the whole assembly out of the car, paint it if you feel like it, and put some spacers between the two pieces so they are parallel. I used a lug nut and a couple of washers as spacers.

I just super glue it back together. Done this on two shifters and never had problems again.
