It could be copper flakes from really worn rod or main bearings. Once you get the silver/gray metal worn off the bearings, it's copper underneath.You gonna race that thing?

Metal flakes in oil can look gold-ish or bronze-ish, even steel or alum flakes. Are you sure that's not antifreeze?Dan

Was it making noise .knocking? Metal flake in the oil and milk shake looking oil is usually a blown head gasket driven long enough with water in the oil that it wipes out the bearings.The rod bearings go 1st and create a very audible knock.30 + Vehicle projects right now.7 Festiva/Mazda 10 GM IDK how many others,hope that helps explain all the stupid questions/shortcuts/interchanges etc. trying to liquidate so I concentrate on the good ones. Goal finish 1 amonth using as much stuff as I already have accumulated.
