I can't think of any bronze bushings in the engine.. Was the drain pan dirty before you started?

It could be copper flakes from really worn rod or main bearings. Once you get the silver/gray metal worn off the bearings, it's copper underneath.
          You gonna race that thing?

Looks like you struck oil and gold at the same time.

You use any oil additives? What kind of oil pressure does it have?

Metal flakes in oil can look gold-ish or bronze-ish, even steel or alum flakes. Are you sure that's not antifreeze?

Was it making noise .knocking? Metal flake in the oil and milk shake looking oil is usually a blown head gasket driven long enough with water in the oil that it wipes out the bearings. The rod bearings go 1st and create a very audible knock.
30 + Vehicle projects right now.7 Festiva/Mazda 10 GM IDK how many others, hope that helps explain all the stupid questions/shortcuts/interchanges etc. trying to liquidate so I concentrate on the good ones. Goal finish 1 amonth using as much stuff as I already have accumulated.

I did find a piece of metal in the oil pan, looked like a broken piece of a piston ring, but got 180psi across all cylinders

Same with ACL racing bearings? no knock engine runs fine
