  • Brake Pad Pin Clip?

Hi all, quick question from a newbie here on the forum.

I'm replacing the front brake pads on my Dad's 1989 Festiva, following the Haynes manual.

I got to the point where it says to remove the "W" retaining clip that holds in the pins, but on my car, it was a loop of wire running through the holes that I had to break to get out in order to be able to remove the pins.

The question: can I somehow source the correct "W" clip? Or should I just do what the person before me did and find some wire, run it through the holes in the pins and be done with it?

    Thanks.

I personally like using those mini cotter pin type clips.
    They never come loose.
    Running 40psi.....in my tires.

always thought the W shape wire was an anti rattle. there is another wire with half loops on each end that goes through the pins holes. but the little clevis type pins in some kits are a lot easier.
