  • Driver side rear window won't stay closed

On my 93 festiva the window will not stay closed, how hard is it to replace the latch or should I just get a new window w/latch already attached?

Should be easy to get a latch from a junk yard. Perhaps other vehicles used the same latch?

The latch is installed with three phillips head screws. Unlock the window, you'll see two screws into the C-pillar to remove. Then, a single screw goes into a threaded plug that sandwiches the window. Reinstallation in reverse.

I found a latch on eBay for 20 bucks, so that info on how to install was much needed and appreciated

Before buying another latch, perhaps loosening screws and making an adjustment is in order. If the latch mech is not broken it is probably an adjustment issue.

^ I agree with adjusting it before replacing it.

You gentlemen, are correct. It is only an adjustment issue. I replaced my rear quarter seals with new ones from Four Green. It required an even pull from both sides with the glass centered on the gasket. You have to begin by loosening all three clips just enough so that you can center the glass on the rubber. The rear clamps should be able to snap down with reasonable (but not excessive force).
Make sure you are not missing any of the plastic washers for the clips, before you begin. They are very important.

When I close the clip for the window as long as I put pressure on the window the clip stays closed but as soon as I let the window go the clip opens
