  • cooling fan relay replacement?

anyone have any part numbers to replace the cooling fan relay? my local stores aren't showing it. thanks in advanced!!!

pretty much not available as a direct replacement but any auto parts store should have the type of relay you need. a 12V SPST relay that is NC and will handle 20A. SPST is single pole, single throw and will have 4 terminals. the load contacts are NC, normally closed when deenergized. the coil side gets hooked up to the 10A meter fuse wire and the fan temp switch wire. the load gets hooked up to the cooling fan and ground.

Maybe one of these might work?

Or better yet, try Rear Counter.

          I'm hijacking this two-year-old thread.

I have a suspect 88LX fan motor relay. Photos attached.

Nobody local has anything. The link above to RearCounter.com got me to a Ford dealer in Overland Park KS who has the part.

It's Ford p/n E7GZ-8B658A, with B being an alternate (no idea what's different).

He's shipping me one for about $56 via UPS.

The Ford part number suffix usually represents the engineering change level.
The initial change level is designated by the letter "A". B would be the newer release.
Something would have to be different about the part to make it a new engineering level (as opposed to just a running change).

              bravekozak,

So what might be different between "A" and "B" revs on a simple 12VDC 20A relay? Surely the "form factor" (overall dimensions) and pin configuration won't change.

The real question is "Will the 'A' part that's shipping tomorrow likely work in my 30-year-old Festy?"
