  • VERY poor gas milage

92 Festiva 1.3 fuel injection. gas mileage currently is 25 MPG.
have replaced the following. over the last year plus:
2 main computers, fuel pump, 2 sets of injectors, 1 fuel pressure relay, 3 sets of plugs, 2 of plug wires, 2 dist caps and rotors, 1 EGR valve, the TPS, the MAF. the coil, the module that feeds the coil,
adjusted the idle innumerable times, but currently will NOT go below about 1,000 RPM..
fuel filter 3 times as well, AND usually the fuel pump runs continually, as long as the key is ON.
new timing belt, and rechecked for proper time on it as well.
#2. According to the manual, shorting out the one little plug, allows you to start the car, bypassing the electronic timing advance.. and set the manual timing.. IT WILL NOT bypass.

Ideas? wiring harness problems, and if so, where?

    Thanks, John

warlocke that is still terrible for a aspire though. should be around 35-40. I don't know whats wrong with your car dude, if you replaced everything like you said, then it should be fine.

Are you sure you have the TPS adjusted correctly .
If it is not spot on , the idle will be high ,and can cause increased fuel pressure to the injectors , which would make it use more fuel than usual .

well, will check it again, but its been right, going to play with the screw adjustment on the throttle tomorrow, and then reset the TPS afterwards again.
Didn't know that had a control of the fuel pump pressure, interesting. Thanks
