  • Washed engine bay now wont start

    I washed my engine bay.
    Now festiva wont start
I am alone so its hard to diagnose

I have fuel pumping into fuel rail.
I replaced the cap rotor wires and plugs.
I replaced all 3 of my main fuses just to be sure .

I took coil wire off of distributor cap and it is not making and spark to a screw driver.

Before i go buy a coil for 30 bucks is there something that could have got wet that could cause this?

        Its been over 24 hrs.

And id like to know the issue is fixed ive had problems in the rain before as well spittiing and sputtering after hitting a huge puddle

My car needed the tune up so im not worried about that cost. But id like to not be shooting in the dark.

Disconnect and blow out the plug to your VAM. If you have some dielectric grease coat the connection with it and see if that works.

Would love to know what all these damn relays are too that are strung up randomly through out the engine bay. Lazy engineering

Does anye have an engine bay wiring diagram so i can figure out what to check....im clueless at this point im gonna just go buy a coil and see what that does...

The haynes manual literaly has nothing on why the coil wouldnt work.

Got it maf and vam are =

It is clean and makes no difference if i unplug it while cranking or have it plugged in

Just confirmed power to the coils black/white wire

And also confirmed power to both yellow wires on grey dist plug

WD40 can be your friend. Spray all wires and connectors liberally. Let sit for a few minutes and try starting.

                          But no power to plugs

FYI, VAM is not the same things as a MAF

Are you getting spark to your spark plugs? Did you get the wires hooked up correctly on your new distributor cap? Your distributor could also be bad. Water could have gotten inside of it and fried it.

I lost spark before new parts...no Spark to plugwire 1 while cranking

It would spark even if i hooked it up wrong

Seems i have a constant power from coil to the dizzy cap though(no volt meter just a test light)
